Machine Tools

Applications:

  • Machining centers with through-spindle coolant (TSC)

Nearly all modern machine tools and machining centers are equipped with so-called “flood coolant”. High-speed cutting tools require both cooling and lubrication to reduce the rate of tool wear and to prevent over heating which degrades the tool’s strength. For many machining operations, such as milling or hole drilling, flood-coolant systems are less effective at delivering coolant fluid to the cutting edge.

In machining centers with through-spindle coolant (TSC), coolant fluid is conducted directly through the cutting tool to cool the cutting edge, reduce friction and remove chips. Coolant flows axially through a rotating union into the spindle and toolholder directly to the heat surface. Compared to flood-coolant systems, TSC pays for itself in terms of lower operating costs for tools and coolant.

Deublin offers the greatest variety of seal technologies and mounting configurations to fit every machining application requirement.

Rotating Unions may be used to transmit coolant, cutting oil, MQL, pressurized air in a bearingless or bearing supported configuration. Deublin seal technologies include Pop-Off, Multi-media, AutoSense and a variety of other advanced technologies for all applications.

Besides coolant delivery, Deublin unions are used for chucking, tool sensing, rotary index table and other machine tool applications. The selections in the website represent a small range of standard products. For critical applications, please contact Deublin.
