History of Hopkinsons®

Today Hopkinsons is part of Trillium Flow Technologies and is located in Elland West Yorkshire. Historically the factory was located in a 16 acre (7 hectare) factory and office complex in Huddersfield. The move to Elland came in 2005 as a response to the ever changing market demands for valves.

This article is extracted from the Hopkinsons Product Support Manual and is intended to give an early history of Hopkinsons.

Its business is that of a world leader in the manufacture of valves, for power generation, the Oil & Gas industries and process and petrochemical applications. Behind these facts is a remarkable story of inventive genius, enterprise and dedication to quality that has earned the firm its unique international reputation over the years since 1843.

That story began at a time when there were still men in the prime of life who had fought at the Battle of Waterloo and before Huddersfield had a railway link with the commercial world.
